2023 Look At The Moon Chardonnay

Long-aged, savoury and complex. This is textural, mineral-accented Chardonnay from one of Australia's most characterful cool climate sites - the Denton Vineyard at Tarrawarra in the Yarra Valley.

On the granite sands of a large granitic outcrop, this steep, close-planted eastern face produced a wine that has rewarded three years of patience.

It rested on lees in the frigid climes of the Yarra Valley, and was finished in Ashton in the Piccadilly Valley region of the Adelaide Hills. Artwork by UK artist Alex Khabbazi.

Winemaking notes

Whole bunch pressed to old barrique barrels for natural fermentation with full solids.

After completion of MLF, the wine was matured on gross lees for three years; half of its life in the cool cellars of the Yarra Valley, and the remainmder in the frigid elevations of Ashton in the Piccadilly Valley region of the Adelaide Hills.

While his creative career began in architecture, UK-based artist and designer Alex Khabbazi now explores art in two dimensions. Through a process that combines analogue and digital techniques, his work pays close attention to the shared rhythm of illustration, typography and texture. His recent projects have seen this recurring theme applied to more naturalistic subjects from slithering serpents to strange plants. The upcoming design series features original works by Alex, to be released in April 2027.
