DETAILS

A highly aromatic, deeply flavoured and forthright wine that leans right into the variety's inherently expressive character and exuberance. Time on lees is fundamental to bringing restraint to the fruit, flowers and spices, and elevating texture and complexity.

WINEMAKING NOTES

A small portion was de-stemmed and gently crushed before locking up in a stainless steel for 6 months. The remaining bunches were gently pressed directly to well-seasoned 500 L puncheons (7+ y.o) and fermented natively with full solids.

After six months, the two portions were combined, and fermentation continued for a further six months, including full MLF. The wine was raised on lees for a further 12 months (total of 2 years) in full puncheons barrels.

The wine was racked cleanly off lees at the end of February 2026, directly to bottle unfined and unfiltered.

50 Doz produced. 13.5% abv

ORIGIN

Sourced from a section of the Yangarra property where weathered Maslin sand combines with ironstone gravels. These are the oldest Roussanne vines on the property, planted in 1999 (grafted in 2003).

Ancient geology, higher elevation and a Mediterranean climate is the perfect triumvirate for producing highly complex, full-bodied dry white wines.

INGREDIENTS

Flowers Release - September 2026

Three out of the four new Flower releases come from the Yangarra Blewitt Springs vineyard, from the 2024 vintage; Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Grenache. The fourth comes from the Hickinbotham vineyard in Clarendon.

I first worked on the Yangarra vineyard thirty years ago and have a special connection to its old vines and ancient sandy soils. There’s a uniquely “Australian” atmosphere that feels beachy, coastal and native, yet Mediterranean at the same time. By way of my long connection with the vineyard and its people, I enjoy my own unique dedicated sections of the vineyard across old bush vine Grenache planted in 1946, Roussanne and Grenache Blanc from soils of sand over ironstone. Dry-grown on free-draining soils, yielding gorgeous wines with perfume, clarity and stunning texture that only old vines on sand can deliver.

Yangarra is a genuine pioneer of biodynamic and organic farming in Australia. This is evident in the quality of the wines and the elevated sense of balance and purity – and place. The fruit is a natural fit for my craft – a gift to work with.
